Journal of Acute Care Physical Therapy Writing Scholarships Available |
Purpose The goal of this scholarship is to provide mentorship to clinicians who wish to submit a manuscript for consideration for publication in the Journal of Acute Care Physical Therapy (JACPT). The scholarship will achieve this by facilitating mentor-mentee relationships among experienced and novel authors. The target audience of mentees is acute care clinicians who have not submitted an article for publication previously, but have a desire to do so. The scholarship will provide assistance, structure and a timeline to help the mentee write a manuscript. The focus of the scholarship is on writing for publication, not on developing a research project, thus case reports are the anticipated format, however completed research projects, systematic reviews, or other types of manuscripts will be considered.
ProcessThe Deputy Editor of JACPT will appoint a qualified mentor, who will provide 1) consultation on the menteeĆs idea, 2) written feedback on an outline, and 3) written feedback on a full draft. At the end of this process, the mentee will submit the manuscript to JACPT, where it will undergo the typical peer review process. The mentor does not receive authorship status but should be acknowledged in the acknowledgements and may not serve as a peer reviewer for the manuscript. The mentor will receive a $400 honorarium from the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy. The mentee does not receive an honorarium.
