To acknowledge and honor an outstanding Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy member whose contributions to the Academy have been of exceptional value.

Criteria for recipient eligibility shall be:

  1. A current member, in good standing, of the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy.
  2. Current members of the Membership Committee, being responsible for reviewing nominations and selecting awardees, are not eligible for the award during their term of office and shall not nominate, write letters of support or endorse the individuals for the award.

Criteria for recipient selection shall be:

The nominee shall have made substantial contributions to the Academy in one or more of the following areas:

  1. Demonstrated prominent leadership in advancing the interests, objectives and strategic plan of the Academy.
  2. Utilized exceptional time and talent in Academy office/committee work, writing, teaching, research, administration, and/or clinical practice to assist the Academy and its membership in achieving their goals.
  3. Obtained professional recognition for the Academy's achievements.
  4. Advanced public/professional awareness of acute care physical therapy.
  5. Served as an accomplished role model in acute care physical therapy.

Procedure for Nomination:

  1. Nominations may be submitted by any Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy member.
  2. The application deadline is November 1 of each year.
  3. Only electronic submission of nominations will be accepted. Complete the form below.
  4. The nominator is responsible for submitting the following documents:
    1. Nomination form
    2. Current CV of the nominee
    3. A minimum of two (2) letters of support which address the criteria for selection by individuals who have firsthand knowledge of the nominee's contributions. All supporting letters must include the writer’s contact information (name, title, address, phone, email) to allow verification of authorship.
  5. Individuals nominated and not selected for the award may be nominated in any subsequent year by completion and submission of a current nomination form and supporting documents. Previously submitted materials will not be used.

Procedures for Review:

  1. The Membership Committee of the Academy will review the nominations and choose up to two (2) recipients no later than December 1 of each year.
  2. The decision of the Membership Committee pertaining to the selection of the nominee will be final and reason(s) for the decision will not be disclosed.
  3. The Committee will notify the Board of Directors of its decision no later than December 15 of each year.

Notification of Award:

  1. The recipients of the award will be notified by December 15.
  2. The nominators of individuals not selected will receive a letter thanking them for their participation.
  3. The awards will be presented at the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy Business Meeting at the Combined Sections Meeting.
  4. An appropriate announcement of the award will appear in the Critical EdgEmail newsletter and/or any other official publication of the Academy, including the Academy website.

Nature of the Award:

A plaque will be presented to the awardee(s).
