AACPT Educator Award

Purpose:

To honor an outstanding physical therapy educator whose major professional involvement and contribution has been in the area of acute care physical therapy education.

Criteria for recipient eligibility shall be:

1. A current member of the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy who has exhibited outstanding leadership throughout her or his career as shown by contributions to acute care physical therapy education in at least 3 of the 4 following areas: scholarship, teaching, administration, or service.
2. One whose activities reflect substantial advancement and recognition of best practice in acute care physical therapist or physical therapist assistant education.
3. The recipient: a physical therapy educator (academic or clinical educator) who has demonstrated excellence in acute care physical therapy education.

Procedure for Nomination:

  1. Nominations may be submitted by individuals and components of the Academy.
  2. The application deadline is November 1 of each year.
  3. Only electronic submission of nominations will be accepted. The submission form is located at the bottom of this page.
  4. The nominator is responsible for submitting the following documents:
    1. Nomination form
    2. Current CV of the nominee
    3. A minimum of three (3) letters of support which address the criteria for selection by individuals who have firsthand knowledge of the nominee's contributions. All supporting letters must include the writer’s contact information (name, title, address, phone, email) to allow verification of authorship.
  5. Individuals nominated and not selected for the award may be nominated in any subsequent year by completion and submission of a current nomination form and supporting documents. Previously submitted materials will not be used.
  6. Current members of the Membership Committee, being responsible for reviewing nominations and selecting an awardee, are not eligible for the award during their term of office and shall not nominate, write letters of support, or endorse the individuals for the award.

Procedures for Review:

  1. The Membership Committee of the Section will review the nominations and choose a recipient no later than December 1 of each year.
  2. The decision of the Membership Committee pertaining to the selection of the nominee will be final and reason for the decision will not be disclosed.
  3. The Committee will notify the Board of Directors of its decision no later than December 15 of each year.

Notification of Award:

  1. The recipient of the award will be notified by December 15.
  2. The nominator of individuals not selected will receive a letter thanking them for their participation.
  3. The award will be presented at the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy Business Meeting at the Combined Sections Meeting.
  4. An appropriate announcement of the Award will appear in the Critical EdgEmail newsletter and/or any other official publication of the Academy, including the Academy's website.

Nature of the Award:

A plaque will be presented to the awardee.
